  1. How do I register the program?

    On the free version, after filling out your return the program will ask if you wish to e-file it. If you click Yes the program will display the Registration Form dialog box to enter the registration code and simultaneously it will open your Internet browser displaying the registration page. On the Internet page, enter your name and e-mail address. You will receive your registration code on your e-mail.

    On the commercial version you will receive your registration code after the payment is processed. If the Registration Form dialog box is still open, enter the registration code. Your program is registered.

  2. Where can I enter the PRTax Live Registration Code?

    If you have the registration number, open the program. Click Help and select Registration. Enter the registration in the Registration Form dialog box and click OK. Your program is registered.

  3. How can I register in the Department of the Treasury?

    You can register online now if you are filing the Short Form. After downloading and installing PRTax Live and filling out your return, at the end of the process the system will ask if you wish to e-file your return. During the e-filing process, follow the prompts to receive your registration code. Then, the system will guide you through the Hacienda’s registration and it will require one of the following:

    • The username and password from last year

    • The PIN number that comes with the “Planilla de Contribución sobre Ingresos de Individuos” booklet received by mail

    • Last year tax return information

  4. To register with Hacienda, I used the last year username and password (clicked the first option). Why can’t I e-file my return?

    • Hacienda keeps the username and password you used last year to register. Enter your username and password exactly the same way you registered last year.

    • Make sure that in this return you typed your name, middle name or initial (if applies), and both last names exactly the same way you typed them last year, with no typos. Any change on these will not allow you to register.

    • If you completed your return as married filing jointly, the system will show the screen to enter the username and password TWICE. The first time, type the husband’s username and password. On the second, type the wife’s username and password. Usernames CANNOT be the same.

  5. To register with Hacienda, I used the PIN that appears on the booklet I received by mail (clicked the second option). Why can’t I e-file my return?

    • Make sure that in this return you entered your name, middle name or initial (if applies), and both last names exactly the same way you typed them last year, and that they have no typos. Any change on these will not allow you to register.

    • The system will display the screen "Registration/Authentication" to enter the PIN and create your Hacienda's account. Enter the PIN number that appears in your booklet and, to create your account, enter a new username and password. It is not required to enter a certain amount of characters for the password. This is the same username and password that you will use next year to e-file your return.

    • If you completed your return as married filing jointly, the system will show the registration screen TWICE. The first time, type the PIN that appears in the booklet, a new username and a password for the taxpayer. On the second, enter the same PIN, a new username and a password for the spouse. It is not required to enter a certain amount of characters for passwords. Usernames CANNOT be the same. The PIN is the same for both.

  6. To register with Hacienda, I used the data from my last year return (clicked the third option). Why can’t I e-file my return?

    • Make sure that in this return you entered your name, middle name or initial (if applies), and both last names exactly the same way you typed them last year, and that they have no typos. Any change on these will not allow you to register.

    • On the Tax Determined field, enter the total of the last year’s tax determined. If you received a refund, click the Refund checkbox and enter the amount in the How much? field. If you do not remember this information from your last year return, call 1-877-684-3422.

    •  To create your Hacienda's account, on the Username field enter a new username and a password in the Password field. It is not required to enter a certain amount of characters for the password. This is the same username and password that you will use next year to e-file your return.

    • If you completed your return as married filing jointly, the system will show the screen to enter the username and password TWICE. The first time, type a new username and password for the taxpayer. On the second, type a username and password for the spouse. It is not required to enter a certain amount of characters for passwords. Usernames CANNOT be the same.

  7. I am a specialist. What should I do to register with Hacienda?

    If you are filing as a specialist, you may use the same username and password as you were given last year. If you try that and you get an error message that indicates it is not correct, you will need to go to Hacienda to check it and perhaps get a new one.

  8. I have the Planilla booklet Hacienda sent me by mail but it has a few combinations of numbers. Which one is the PIN?

    The PIN is the combination of letters and numbers to the right of the name.
