  1. PRTax Live allows me to file electronically only the Short Form?

    Visit http://www.prtaxlive.com if you need to:

    • E-file the Short or the Long Form

    • Print the Short or the Long Form to file on paper

  2. If I e-file my return, can I get an official copy from Hacienda, like the stamped copy when you file on paper?

    After the return has been successfully filed, you will automatically print a confirmation page. This page displays a watermark (RADICADA ELECTRONICAMENTE) and the confirmation number assigned by Hacienda to acknowledge that you filed your return.

    After e-filing, every time you print out a copy of the return, you will see the same confirmation number printed on it. Both of these, the return with the number and the confirmation page with the number, are the SAME as having the Hacienda's blue stamp on your copy. With PRTax Live you no longer need to have the blue stamp, and Hacienda will honor your copy.

     

  3. Can I use just one e-mail address to make more than one tax return?

    Yes. You can use the same e-mail for all your e-filed returns.

  4. How do I know that my return was successfully e-filed?

    After the return has been successfully filed, the program will automatically print a confirmation page. This page has the confirmation number that is assigned by Hacienda to acknowledge that you filed your return. After e-filing, every time you print out a copy of the return, you will see the same confirmation number printed on it.

     

  5. I e-filed my return but I made a mistake and entered incorrect information. How do I correct it?

    Complete an amended return and file it on paper. Hacienda does not receive amended returns electronically. If you decide to prepare and print the amended return using PRTax Live, you will have to make the corresponding payment. Make sure to check to Amended Return checkbox on the Personal Information screen.

     

    Otherwise, prepare the amended return using PRTax Live, print the draft and transcribe the information manually to your tax booklet forms.

  6. I completed my return and made the corresponding payment to file it. However, I cannot e-file the return. I can only print it when my interest was to e-file my return. Can you refund my money?

    The price paid for this software is for the preparation of the tax return and for printing without watermarks. The e-filing process is a free service provided for the user’s convenience.

  7. If I e-file my return, approximately how long it will take for me to receive my refund?

    According to Hacienda, three weeks after they receive the e-filed return.

  8. After e-filing my return, the confirmation page did not print out. How am I sure that it was sent?

    If the confirmation page was not printed out, print the return. It should display the confirmation number. If the printed return displays “Draft” it means that it was not e-filed. Send it again.

  9. I usually send the W-2 paper forms to Hacienda along with my return. If I e-file the return, what should I do with the W-2 forms?

    In PRTax Live, make sure that you correctly entered the W-2 control number and the Employer ID number in your return. Hacienda will use these numbers to validate your information with the data submitted by your employer. If you e-file the return, you do not need to send Hacienda the W-2 paper forms. Save them for future reference.

  10. It is the first time I file a return in Puerto Rico. Can I e-file my return?

    No. Users who have never filed a return in PR cannot e-file the first time. You must file on paper.

  11. I have filed a return in the past, but not last year. Can I e-file my return this year?

    No. To e-file your return you must have filed your return last year on paper or electronically. You should file your return this year on paper.

  12. Can I e-file my return even when I don't have an e-mail account?

    No. You cannot e-file without an e-mail account. If you forgot to enter your e-mail on the first screen when creating your return, please enter your e-mail address in the E-mail field of the Registration/Authentication screen.

  13. I have a gross income higher than $75,000. Can I e-file my return?

    If your gross income is higher than $75,000 complete the Long Form and e-file it.

  14. Is there any restriction to e-file my return?

    Hacienda does NOT allow you to e-file your return in the following cases:

    • nonresident taxpayers, non United States citizens;

    • taxpayers filing return for the first time;

    • taxpayers who complete Schedule CH Individual;

    • taxpayers who inform certain income or losses for

    • which evidence is required with the return;

    • taxpayers who claim tax credits for which evidence is

    • required with the return;

    • taxpayers who claim other payments and withholdings

    • for which evidence is required with the return; and

    • taxpayers deceased during the year.

  15. I got to the "E-filing Data" screen and clicked Sign and Agree but nothing happens. Was the return already sent?

    No, the process has not finished yet. On the E-filing Data screen click . It is equivalent to sign your return. If you filed as "married filing jointly" (as it is shown below), click both buttons. Then, click . Continue the e-filing process by filling out the Password screen to register with the Department of the Treasury.  If you don't see the button change the screen resolution on Control Panel / Display / Settings.

     

     

  16. I e-filed my return. How do I pay Hacienda?

    After registering with Hacienda, if you have to pay, this window will appear. Enter your bank information and click OK. Hacienda will debit your payment from your account.

     

     

    If you already e-filed your return, print out your confirmation page, and mail it along with your check to Hacienda. Make sure you put your Social Security number on the check. If you have your booklet, use the white (not yellow) envelope that came with it, and mark "RETURN WITH TOTAL PAYMENT" on the top left.

    Make sure the envelope is postmarked by the end of the due date.

  17. I can't e-file my return because of this error: "The server name or address could not be resolved-  URL:https//hws. hacienda.gobierno.pr-etieservices/etieservices.asmx - SOAPction:http://etie.hacienda.gobierno.pr/EtieServices/EtieServices/Login". What should I do?

    This message indicates problems with your Internet service provider to access the Hacienda's servers. Use another Internet service provider or enter a different DNS (domain name server) different from the one already used.
